Cedric Maddox, Principal

Principal MaddoxCovington Middle School and Fine Arts Academy Family Colts and Future Colts, I am ecstatic to be the new Principal of Covington Middle School and join this community!

Thank you for taking time to stop by the school’s website and learn about the many things happening at Covington Middle School. Throughout the website, you will be able to find the most up to date information and current events.

Although I am new to Austin ISD, I have gained tremendous experience and knowledge in my 19 years with the School Board of Broward County. After graduating from Auburn University in 2003, I began teaching science at Plantation Middle School. In 2010, I became an assistant principal at Arthur Ashe Middle School. Throughout my years as an administrator,

I worked within diverse schools, garnered strong relationships from all stakeholders, and supported communities with different needs. My last 5 years were at Parkway Middle School of the Performing and Visual Arts, the only middle school in Broward with a top tier caliber performing arts program within the district.

My commitment as principal is to ensure every student at Covington Middle is surrounded and supported by caring professionals committed to propelling them to their highest potential and beyond. In addition, I will communicate the most current information to you, providing the opportunity to participate and support your child’s growth throughout the year. If you have concerns, do not hesitate to reach out. I look forward to a wonderful and successful school year!

Rachel Gregory Assistant Principal

Covington Colts, I am elated to serve the community as one of your Assistant Principals. As an original Austinite, I have lived in this community for over 30 years. After graduating from Arlington Baptist College, I began teaching in Austin ISD 2005 and have continued with the district I call home. In the Spring of 2019, I graduated from Concordia University with my Masters in Administration and Curriculum. That following Fall, I continued my educational pursuit for my Doctorate in District Leadership and Curriculum at Concordia University. I am hopeful to complete the program in the Spring of 2024.

During my time as a teacher, I had the opportunity to work with diverse communities and build skills that allowed me to build meaningful relationships and student growth. As an administrator here at Covington, I will dedicate myself to providing students with a well rounded educational experience that allows them to grow. We are a team and I look forward to working with you to expand your student’s journey!
