All students participating in athletics, cheerleading, and dance will be required to obtain a new physical dated after April 15, 2025 prior to participating in any practice or activity for the 2025-26 school year.  Physical forms can be picked up at the office at Covington or downloaded below.  Forms need to be given to the coach or dropped off in the West office.  Football practice will begin the first day of school from 4:00-5:30.  Make sure you bring cleats, shorts, and a t-shirt.

Practice:

Practice will begin on Wednesday August 20, 2025

8th A/B Monday-Wednesday 4:00pm - 5:30pm

7th A/B 6:00am - 7:40am

Parent Meeting August 26th @ 6:00pm

Equipment:

Covington provides game uniforms. Girls must have a good pair of athletic shoes to be worn during Practice and games. Girls must have a pair of knee pads and black athletic shorts to be worn during practice and games. Girls need to wear their athletic shirt or grey t-shirt for practice.

Practice Expectations

8^th grade practices are Monday-Wednesday 4:00-5:45p.m. Players must be picked up by 6:00 p.m.

7^th grade practices are Monday-Wednesday 6:20-7:50 a.m. Girls will be notified in plenty of time for any cancellations or added practices. Gym and locker rooms will be open at 6:15am. Girls must be on the court no later than 6:20a.m.

Game day expectations

Home Games Players will wear nice clothes to school. After the game the athletes will clean up the gym and pack up equipment before leaving. Parents do not have to sign with the coach after the game.

Away Games Players will wear team shirt and jeans. Parents must sign with coach before taking the athlete from opposing school premises. Students may ride the bus with the coaches back to Covington. Students will call guardian the minute we are on the bus for pick-up. This gives the guardian plenty of time to pick up athlete. If late, the guardian will be required to provide transportation to/from future games

Dinner Athletes will not be allowed to leave campus on game day. All players will convene in the Athletic hall for dinner/study hall. Coaches have a refrigerator to store food or be sure to drop off their food by or before 3:50p.m. on game days.

Spectator Expectations:

Remember that you are at a contest to support and yell encouragingly for your team, while enjoying the competition, not to intimidate or ridicule the officials, coaches, or the other team. A ticket is a privilege to observe the contest not a right. Be a positive role model through your own actions and by censoring those around you whose behavior is unbecoming. Be aware that spectators can be removed from the premises and be prohibited from attending future contests during the year due to undesirable behavior. Keep in mind that you are a guest of the school, and while winning is our goal, it is hollow if it comes at the expense of morals, ethics, and common sense. The school is responsible for spectator behavior and can be punished for patrons in violation of the UIL standards and rules.
