Covington Connection March. 30th - April 3rd. 2026
Good Evening Covington Families, We are one week closer to the STAAR assessment! This is the final week of school before we begin with the ELA Assessment on April 9th. Our teachers and students have been working hard to close any remaining gaps, and our data throughout the year shows that we are moving in the right direction. We are proud of the effort our students have shown and are excited to see them demonstrate their learning.

As we enter the final week of February, it’s hard not to notice that even with a fairly mild winter, we are quickly approaching spring. With warmer days ahead, our campus energy continues to build as we move into an important stretch of the school year.

Thank you to all of the parents who came out on Friday to chaperone and support our Valentine’s Dance. A very special thank you goes out to the many fathers who volunteered, it was the largest number of dads I have seen at a Covington event since becoming part of this community, and it truly made a difference.

Now that it seems we have made it through the annual freeze season that Central Texas loves to offer, we are back in the full swing of things here at Covington! This week is an important one for our students. On Tuesday and Wednesday, students will be participating in the state’s annual STAAR Interim Assessments in Math and English Language Arts (ELA).

I hope everyone is staying safe and warm as we endure the freezing and extremely cold weather. For those who may not yet be aware, Austin ISD has announced that schools will be closed tomorrow to ensure the safety of students, families, and staff across the district. We appreciate your flexibility and understanding as safety remains the top priority.

I hope everyone is enjoying this 3-day weekend! The weather has been beautiful, which makes it a great time to get outside, enjoy some fresh air, and soak up a little extra sunshine. This week, we will be distributing MAP Middle of the Year (MOY) reports for your child on Thursday and Friday. Please be on the lookout for these reports coming home.
