A message from Austin ISD
The enrollment process will look different this year due to potential school consolidations and boundary changes. While the Enroll Austin platform won’t open until January 2026, application-based schools and programs are now accepting materials.
Step 1–Now through January: Please visit the campus websites of the programs you are interested in for their specific application requirements and deadlines.
Step 2–Now through January: Complete the application requirements and submit directly to the campus(es) to which you are applying. Request teacher recommendations from your teachers.
Step 3–Starting in January (date coming soon!): Visit Enroll Austin when it opens in January to complete your official application. All students must submit an Enroll Austin application ranking the programs to which they have applied in order to be considered.

Fine Arts Academy Application Timeline for the 2026-27 school year
November 2025 - January 30, 2026 – FFA Application window opens https://tinyurl.com/covingtonfaa202627
December 13, 2025 – CMSFAA Application Workshop in Fine Arts Building Foyer 10am-Noon Q&A and guidance on application/audition process.
January 2026 (Date TBA) – Priority Registration in Enroll Austin opens. YOU MUST COMPLETE ENROLL AUSTIN AND SELECT COVINGTON FINE ARTS ACADEMY
January 30, 2026- Deadline for submitting applications for 2025-2026 school year Completed applications include: essay, teacher recommendations, report cards, and standardized test results.
Week of February 2, 2026 – CMSFAA will notify qualified applicants their advancement letter indicating advancement to Audition Phase. Students will be contacted with an assigned audition time.
February 14, 2026 – FAA Theatre and Art Auditions/Interviews at Covington 9am-1pm.
February 21, 2026 – FAA Art, Dance, Music (Band, Choir, Guitar Orchestra) Auditions/Interviews at Covington 9am-3pm.
March 2, 2026– CMSFAA Decisions Emailed.
You must reply to ruth.lim@austinisd.org to notify that you are accepting Covington’s Decision.

Dates are subject to change; due to AISD Enroll Austin deadlines. Submitting earlier is recommended.
Enroll Austin Registration instructions:
Visit the Enroll Austin site online (will open sometime in January)
- Click on the “Start Your Application” button under Registration for 2026-27 School Year.
- Follow the instructions and use your credentials to login to the Enroll Austin site.
- Select the “Start” button under the Student Name for Priority Registration.
- All students applying to Covington Fine Arts Academy must select Fine Arts Academy.
- Hit “Submit” and the following copies will be automatically submitted for you:
- Student information
- Grades for the 1st 2 grading periods of the current school year
- Attendance
- Click on “Teacher Recommendations” to send the recommendation form directly to your teachers so they can fill it out online.
- Reminder: Applicant needs to upload Essay in Enroll Austin OR use our cmsfaa form (coming soon).
Please upload a handwritten or typed essay responding to the following (250 words minimum): Describe some of your character traits and personal goals. Include in your essay how being involved in the Covington Middle School Fine Arts Academy will help you achieve your goals in school and life.
